Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Practical tools to quiet the noise and reconnect with the present moment.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy - Creating space for awareness and change.
How much of your life do you spend caught up in your thoughts? You may be physically present at the dinner table or sitting in a meeting, yet mentally somewhere else, replaying a conversation from yesterday, worrying about a deadline next week, or running through a list of things still left undone.
Living on autopilot can be exhausting. It can leave you feeling disconnected from the people around you and missing the small moments that bring meaning and enjoyment to everyday life.
At Fortitudo Therapy, we use Mindfulness Based Interventions to help you step out of this constant mental busyness and return your attention to the present moment. Mindfulness is not about clearing your mind or getting rid of thoughts. Instead, it involves learning a different way of relating to your thoughts and emotions so that they no longer dictate your mood or behaviour.
We offer face to face therapy in Dorset, as well as online sessions available across the UK.
Is Mindfulness Right for You?
Mindfulness is a central component of many modern therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). It works by addressing common underlying processes that contribute to psychological distress, particularly patterns of disconnection from the present moment and automatic emotional reactivity. Rather than trying to eliminate difficult thoughts or feelings, mindfulness helps you develop greater awareness of your internal experiences. This allows you to respond more intentionally, instead of reacting automatically, creating space for calmer, more considered choices.
- You struggle to switch off from overthinking or constant worry.
- You feel emotionally numb or disconnected from daily life.
- You react quickly or intensely and later wish you had responded differently.
- You carry ongoing stress and physical tension in your body.
- You live with chronic pain and want support managing its emotional impact.

Frequently Asked Questions
No prior experience is needed. Many people come to mindfulness-based therapy having never tried meditation before. Everything is introduced gradually and guided in a way that feels accessible, with plenty of space to ask questions or adjust the pace.
No. Practices are usually short and guided. The aim is not to force stillness, but to help you build awareness in a way that feels approachable. Over time, adjustments can be made based on what works best for you.
You’ll be invited to try simple practices between sessions, but there’s no pressure. These might include brief mindfulness exercises or small changes in how you relate to everyday experiences. Practising between sessions can help deepen the benefits.
